Somewhere south of the Rio Grande in the Age of Enlightenment there once lay a vortex that sucked some revolutionaries into a desire to be petty kings, decorated with ribbons and epaulets, leaving their progeny with a legacy of constant turmoil and perpetual economic inequality, while others remained outside the event horizon and bequeathed only imperfect freedom.
